Founded in 1906 as the British Empire Forest Service. The site also has a forest museum consisting of six main sections: the Pathology Museum, the Social Forest Museum, the Forest Museum, the Timber Museum, the Non-Wood Forest Products Museum and the Entomology Museum. This Institute has appeared in many Bollywood movies such as Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, Paan Singh Tomar, Nanban, Student of the Year, etc.
